Session 7: Human rights lawyers dealing with authoritarian regimes, newly democratized countries, or countries in a transitional state

The purpose of this session is to examine the challenges faced by human rights lawyers in authoritarian, transitional, or newly democratized regimes, as well as possible solutions. Also, we will discuss the priorities of human rights institutions in countries undergoing democratic transitions and examine global examples of human rights lawyers’ success in such situations.

Session 4: Goals and missions of human rights organizations 

During this session, we will discuss the goals and missions that legal institutions in the field of human rights set for themselves. As we examine them, we will consider the experiences of different institutions in various countries, which can serve as a guide for Iran.

Session 2: Practical obstacles to legal protection

In this session, we discuss the topic of “practical obstacles to the right to be protected by the law”, learn about appointed lawyers and legal assistance, and analyze the threats against human rights advocates. Finally, we will discuss Iranian laws that violate human rights.
