Malala Yousafzai’s Nobel Press Conference

In October 2014, Pakistani education activist Malala Yousafzai and Indian children’s rights advocate Kailash Satyarthi learned they would share the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize for their “struggle against the suppression of children and young people.” At just 17 years of age, Malala – who survived a Taliban attempt on her life two years ago – is now the youngest Nobel Prize winner in history. In this press conference, translated to Persian exclusively by Tavaana, Malala describes her hope that the news will inspire other young people to stand up for their rights: “Through my story, I want to tell other children all around the world that they should stand up for their rights. They should not wait for someone else. This award is especially for them. It gives them courage.”
