This Tavaana-exclusive book is not a detailed historical and comparative research on Iran’s judiciary but a descriptive and analytic report on some aspects of Iranian judiciary system under Islamic regime regarding rule of law, court system, interactions between judiciary and other branches of power, and prison systems. As a sociologist of law, the author explains the main shortcomings and challenges of this system that is abused by an authoritarian ans semi-totalitarian system of government. Based on decisions and policies of judiciary officials, it is fair to say that its main function is to subdue Iranian citizens and consolidate the government’s power. violation of human rights is structural and rampant in this criminal justice system.
