Terrorism And The Islamic Republic

Terrorism And The Islamic Republic

Parviz Dastmalchi’s lectures cover the 1992 assassinations of Iranian-Kurdish opposition leaders by the Iranian government at Mykonos restaurant in Berlin. In his three lectures, Dastmalchi discusses the Mykonos attacks in relation to his new book Terror in the Name of God. Dastmalchi, who himself survived the attack, examines the details of that particular event, which he identifies as one example of the Islamic Republic’s tactic of foreign terror against its opposition. His topics of discussion include steps taken after the attack, those directly responsible for the plot, and the tribunal convened in Germany a year after the Mykonos assassinations took place, focusing in particular on the independence and unique characteristics of the German judiciary in those proceedings.
