The purpose of this session is to examine the challenges faced by human rights lawyers in authoritarian, transitional, or newly democratized regimes, as well as possible solutions. Also, we will discuss the priorities of human rights institutions in countries undergoing democratic transitions and examine global examples of human rights lawyers’ success in such situations.
