Lesson 3: work Law

In this video, Joel Friedman discusses international labor laws. He praises the global community’s support for labor struggles toward democracy and justice but deems it insufficient, emphasizing the importance of organization. Friedman focuses on fundamental labor standards and principles in labor relations, highlighting some of the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) activities in this area.

With over a decade of experience representing American workers at the ILO, Friedman draws on his expertise to stress the importance of collective bargaining rights for workers, considering it an inviolable principle of labor relations. He believes this right will always have a significant impact on workers’ futures.

Building on his experiences, Friedman, as in the previous two videos, reiterates the importance of the freedom of assembly and collaboration, calling it “a fundamental principle in the international sphere and a foundation for international labor standards.”

The video also addresses violations of international labor principles by the Islamic Republic of Iran, including discriminatory practices against Iranian citizens.
