In the courses’ third section we take a look at top-down responses that the government of Iran has mounted in response to corruption, examining empirical examples of such tactics. The case of Chinese anti-corruption efforts is also reviewed for purposes of comparative analysis.
Part three then proceeds to Egypt’s fight against corruption, concluding with a review of the relative weaknesses of top-down approaches. The session-wrap up highlights the fact that the effective role and priority of citizens is overlooked in anti-corruption decision calculations.
