Lesson4: the Methodology of Researches on Democracy Assessment

In the final lesson of this series, King’s College London Lecturer in Politics and Contemporary History Andrew Blick provides a methodology for those seeking to produce a democracy assessment study. Such a study is ultimately qualitative in nature and should discuss a country’s merits in context without falling into the trap of moral relativism. Blick explains the four pillars on which to rate countries, some relevant sources to consult in drawing up an assessment, and finally, the importance of diversity in parties involved and impartiality in approach and goals
