Azad was shot and killed by government agents in Mahabad on November 26, 2022. His brother, Hamed Hosseinpour was killed in the Iran-Iraq war. The participation of citizens in his funeral was massive. A huge crowd gathered in Mahabad in solidarity with Azad’s family. “Kurd, Baloch, Azeri, Liberty and Equality,” they chanted. People released doves at Azad’s funeral as symbols of freedom. The regime’s oppression forces attacked the crowd and shot at them, leading to the death of a citizen.
