Lesson 3: Features of Activism in the Digital Space

This session examines the digital environment for civic activism in democratic countries, countries in transition, authoritarian and repressive regimes, and totalitarian systems. Calculating and minimizing risk for digital activism and activism outside the target country are among the topics discussed in this session. Lesson 3 concludes by outlining overall strategies for using digital technology tools in two situations: in terms of short-term use for attracting greater attention but also the time-consuming, long-term improvement of civic movements.
