This session discusses topics including conflicts between governments and civic activists, competition for resources between them, and cyberactivism. “Slacktivism” is also defined as a condition in which a person has a false sense of satisfaction from doing something which, though positive, has little or no practical effect. Another concept explored in this section is “collectivism,” a condition in which civic activists use mass media to protest. In this case, the government can evaluate their success through counting the number of clicks or signatures. The concept of web delusion is also discussed.
