In this session, Rezaei compares the advantages of Persian blog websites such as “Blogfa” to those of non-Persian blog websites such as “BlogSpot” and “WordPress”. In addition to benefits such as immunity from deletion for ideological and political content (except in cases of inciting violence, porn, etc.) and the possibility of widespread dissemination of photos and videos over time, non-Persian sites offer bloggers the ability to apply changes in the blog template using an HTML editor. This session also examines the role of blogs and social networks in political and social movements, especially in the context of the 2009 Iranian presidential election. Due to the advantages that “Facebook” had over other social networks such as “Balatarin”, it became one of the main channels of information dissemination and played an important role in news reporting during the 2009 election.
